How to Manage Your Blood Sugar When You Skip A Meal

Hey everybody! I am finally back for this week’s Diabetes
Minute, where I want to focus on how you manage your blood sugar when you’re gonna skip
a meal or have it at a really bizarre time. So yesterday, I was stuck in a meeting from
4 o’clock in the afternoon until 9:30pm at night. So I knew I was either not gonna get dinner
at all, or I was gonna be having it very, very late. So I avoided the temptation of having a huge
lunch to make up for the dinner, because every time I eat a huge lunch, it makes me high. I’m lethargic in the middle of the afternoon
and I don’t have my “A” game for the meeting. So I managed my blood sugar throughout the
afternoon and I checked it to make sure I was good for the meeting. And then during the meeting, I had packed
some low carb, high protein snacks – a nut mix, a trail mix and some granola bars, in
case I dipped low. And I think during that five, five and a half
hour meeting, I had a small bag of nuts, a bag of trail mix and also a granola bar. And when I finally got home, about a quarter
to 10 at night. It was much too late for dinner. But Alana had made me a really leafy green
salad with some protein on it, and some cheese and some low carb, low fat, low calorie dressing,
which made me full enough to be able to go to bed and wake up this morning with a really
good blood sugar. We hope this has been helpful and we look
